During the day the clam is well attached to the rock near the surface. Then late at night he jump's? What gives? And how do I make him stay in one place?

Thanks

Clams are kind of like anemones in that, if they don't like where they are they can move. What lighting is it under? Crocea clams are very light demanding. Try moving him to different spots until he finds one he likes. Or, you could also build a kind of barrier around it so that it can't move around. One thing that caught my attention is that you said he jumps at night. Are you sure that it is doing this on it's own? Look to see if it isn't being buldozed by hermits, snails, and the like. HTH
