Hi Jerel,

The LR came from Tonga. There are no gill "protrusions" (I don't remember what they are called) and the thin membrane is (as far as I can tell) not retractable like some Nudi's that I have seen. The wavy portion is on the outermost portion of the creature and seems to be flat unless it is turning or something like that. This membrane is "free-floating" i.e. not part of the foot per-say. I don't know if that helps at all. I hope it does.

Thanks,

Boy, you got me. Any chance of a picture, nothing provocative this is the family channel .
The problem with hitchhikers is that they really can be from anywhere. By the time it gets to you, after the transshippers, wholesalers, retailers and all that cross pollination, well you got it!
Try asking Bill, he lives for this stuff. http://207.254.123.101/general.htm

Question

Need help in IDing slug-like creature I found in my tank today...

Hello All,

Today, I was watching my reef tank and saw a creature that I thought was a Sea Slug/Sea Hare/Sea Squirt without having much info on these creatures. I took it out of my main tank and put it in my smaller tank to watch it.

It is Jet Black, about 2" long and 1.25" wide. It has two "horns" at the front of it's body. I couldn't see any mouth opening when it was crawling on the glass. It's main body is about 1/2" wide with a thin somewhat wavy "membrane" all of the way around the creature. It moves like a normal land slug or snail. It has no shell and is relatively flat. Unfortunately I don't have a pic of it right now.

I was wondering of this sounds familiar to any of you. If so, please let me know what it is.

Thank you for your help.

It would really help if you knew where it came from. (Atlantic/Pacific). Any gills showing? Doesn't really matter they can retract them.
Could be a nudi (mostly meat eaters), I'd guess Slimy Doris (Dendrodoris krebsii). They show up a lot on Gulf Rock.
