Question

Need Critter ID, 5 years in tank... first picture that turned out!!

This has been in the 35 HEX for 5 years now, and it was about half the size 5 years back. It moves ULTRA slow, and will be there in the front one and, then I wont see it for months....

Any Ideas... Acctual size is about an inch and a half long.

And I thought this one looked neat too

assuming you're talking about the pic below, it is a sea cucumber, one of the holothurins probably.

The bottom one is a shrimp

I was thinking Chiton as well... its body is a series of hard plates... looks armorerd... Next time I find it I will use the digicam instead of the nextel camera

Anyone have pictures of Chiton to post?

If it has hard plates, then I would think chiton as well. I have a few cukes that look just like that though when the lights first come on. I'll try to take a few pix of the ukes, but they are definitely soft bodied, they will get stiff when disturbed, but not like hard plates.

heh!!!

so much for ID from pix...

I am 110% positive that its Chiton!

How big do they get, and whaat good are they in the home aquarium? It seems like it must clean alot, because there is usually a clean trail where it has been moving...

It also would rarely come out for the last few years, but ive seen it 4 times now last month since the new light hood (because of the moonlights).

Agreed, my first thought was a chiton as well. Glad someone found some great pics for you to compare to.
