You might need more flow. Set your PH low enough to move water but not sand and you'll be ok. You might want to look at more flow though.

I would definately recommend more flow. I've got a couple of modded maxijets and an eductor on a sea swirl... It works out to over 4k gph in flow. I love watching the fish get thrashed around by the current . Honestly, the fish love it too, they love to body surf and in nature the current is probably even more intense. The only downside is that my sand makes predictable lil dunes that I need to flatten out every 2-3 days. However, everything in the tank is on acrylic lifts (thank you flyguy) so moving sand around is a breeze and nothing every "settles" on the sand except bit and flakes off the LR. Flow is good, you can only have too much when it is pinning your fish against the glass and creating a tsunami on your wood floor.

I have a 125 with a 35 gal refugium and have about 5000 gph total flow when you add PH's, return pump and the skimmer pump. Most people with reef tanks have more than me (some by alot) I would say you need to add if possible.

More flow . I have a 30 gal with 20 gal sump, 700 gph return pump, and 2 maxijets in the display. Even now, I have areas that I feel have too little flow.

My 125 has 2 pumps in the tank that do 3,100 GPH each, and I don't think it's enough.

Shoot for a in-tank turnover of about 20 X min for a FO or softie tank IMHO. Seio pumps are a great way to get there.
