Nassarius Snail Explosion
These snails are multiplying like crazy in my reef aquarium and hope they don't turn out to be a problem. I have several of various stages of growth and lots of clear sags with white eggs inside on the aquarium glass up in the strong current. Johnny

Johnny,
Most of us would love to have that as a "problem". I don't know about the longevity of these good critters, but their breeding will ensure you a steady supply. I just put a couple dozen in my 55 and it would be great if they multiply!
If you get too many, I'm sure you will find lots of TRT'ers willing to take them off your hands!

Johnny, Consider yourself lucky. I would love to see my Nassarius snails breeding in my tank.

Johnny, did you get some of Brooke's water that she uses for her Banggai Cardinals?
I too have lots of baby snails, but not sure what kind yet.

At least they are fun snails to watch! Mine will stay buried in the sand with just their antennae-like probosis sticking up. As soon as they smell food, that antennae will stretch up and sway back and forth 'til it gets a lock on the direction to the food, then the snail will burst out of the sand and streak towards the food. Their interactions with each other are really humorous, too. They will chase each other around the tank, and, when the chaser catches up with and touches the chase-ee, the chase-ee will flip over and away from the other snail. I wouldn't mind a Nassarius explosion in my tank.

You are very fortunate! I added 20 to my tank a few months ago and I rarely see any of them. I blame my checkerboard wrasse because he's always on the hunt for something. Anyways, according to Julian Sprung's invert book, there has been no reports of reproduction of this snail in captivity so you must doing something right. Btw, I'll take some off your hands if you like.
