Nano equipment?

So Im possibly thinking about updating the equipment for my 15 gal nano. So give me the low down on the best, filters, skimmers, ect. I'm a full time student in college so lets keep price reasonable.
Thanks

Is this going to be your first saltwater tank? And for a 15 gallon you may not need a sump, protein skimmer, etc., my 10 gallon just has a HOB filter and a powerhead

That's the problem with nano tanks. There really isn't much low priced, good filtration equipment to choose from. Frequent water changes are your best bet.

Upgrading the amount of flow with some Koralias or other type of high flow/low wattage pump would be a good upgrade.

Maybe a lighting upgrade as well, depending on what you already have.

Ours is a little big for a nano, but qualified for the under 30g requirement for the TRT buildoff.

I have a Remora skimmer with an MJ1200, 2 x 96W PC lighting and a tunze nano powerhead and everything is dandy. We just aim the tunze at the bowfront and there is great flow everywhere.

This keeps the tank from getting too overwhelmed with gear.

I have heard good things about the Tunze nano skimmer and the octopus as well.

What current equipment do you have, and what are you planning on keeping in this tank?

Well I'd like to have both fish and some corals. I have a
Whisper EX Power Filter,

Oceanic BioCube Protein Skimmer,

Coral life 10,000k light

one nano sea fan

I know I need another power head for water flow. So a filter doesn't matter as much on a small salt water. I don't think my protein skimmer works well. Would a small UV sterilizer help I do have a small cyno algae problem.

In a 15 gallon tank, water changes are going to be your best option.

You need to make sure you are siphoning the sand bed when you are doing water changes, and suck out as much of the cyano as possible. Hopefully if you continue to export more nutrients than you add, you will get past the cyano issues.
