Nano Cube Options

Hi Everyone!

I posted this in the Nano forum, but only got 1 opinion back...so I'm "fishing" for better results here

I've had a 150-gallon tank for ~2 years, and have decided to set up a nano tank - both for fun but also to use as a quarantine for the bigger tank.

I have pretty much decided to go with a 12-15 gallon, but my local Fish Store said the Nano 12-gallons have been discountinued. Trying to decide between:
12 gallon nano
12 gallon aqua pod
12 gallon eclipse
14 gallon bio-cube

Fish store said both the aqua pod & bio cube have better filtration systems vs. the Nano. If anyone would recommend or NOT recommend any of these systems, I would appreciate it!

Becky

I have a 135-gallon and added a 12-gallon nano cube six months ago. I'm very glad to have the nano, because it helps as a QT tank and an "overflow" tank when fragging corals. BUT - I probably would consider NOT buying the 12-gallon JBJ nano again because of the heat issue. I have to leave the feeding cover up or the tank overheats.

My LFS is recommending the Oceanic nano now - I believe it comes in 12 and 24 gallon sizes.

I don't know that the JBJ is being discontinued as such, but I know I'm not bringing them in anymore as the Aquapod is much better - better built, better configured, and better customer service from the manufacturer. Nearly impossible to get any issues resolved by the manufacturer, and the local distributor has helped me with a few minor JBJ issues, albeit begrudgingly (I am good at insisting). I can't be bothered with products where I can't get good support, so I'm just going to stick with things that I can count on.

I haven't tried out an Oceanic Bio Cube yet - I'm not impressed with Oceanic's *cough* customer service since they moved to WI. In fact I'm not impressed with *any* of Central Garden & Pet's Aquatics Group customer service lately. Even my Central Aquatics sales rep, who had been with Kent Marine for quite a few years, before they were bought by Central, left recently to get back into the LFS end of things here locally.

I like the Aquapod and I've had one running on my counter for almost a year now. I like the company (Current USA) and its customer service. They get my nod.

are you sure nano cubes 12g are discontinued? i just bought one two months ago from dr fosters and smith, they still have them

i have both the nano cube and the aquapod 12g's
as for the aquapod having better filtration thats just bs
they have the same filtration, sponge, chambers etc
all in all i think the nano cube is a more solid tank than the aquapod. the aquapod to me is very flimsy
although they do sport the same glass thickness 5 ml thick
