My OFFICIAL crazy weekend project thread!
Well, as tomorrow evening approches my peaceful 110 gallon reef will be disrupted.
Tank is to be coming down to:
-add a CLS,
-Lose the ~12 gallon Wet/Dry and do a 29 gallon Sump,
-add the G3 skimmer in place of the Aqua C Urchin Pro,
-Change background from blue to balck
-add PVC stands for rock.....thanks Tim
The plans for the CLS are to be powered by a Sequence Dart w/ a spray bar at the bottom and behind the rock to keep fish poo and detritus suspended for the hungry G3. I will also have two other returns with loc line on each side of the tank as well. I will use true union ball valves before and after the pump if ever need to swap something out. I will also use a few BV on the return lines to adjust flow should I desire.
I plan 2 1" feedlines for the pump to a 1.5" or 2" at the pump. Trying to make as small as possible to fit nicley beind tank and keep close to the wall.

That could be a lot of work but it will help a lot! I would like to add a sump and a CLS to my 38gal. All the work is the only thing holding me back. The new skimmer should work very good to. Are you going to try to get it all done this weekend?

Here is the waterflow output idea:
Red= CLS outputs
Black= Sump returns
Yellow= Sump feeds
Let me know if you think I should move something or any ideas.
Also attached is how the final rock work layout should look as well to get an idea of wheter I should move something.
Ideas or comments welcome.

Yup.....and it really needs to be done as it at my office!
Plan is:
- Friday night:
have the tank down, blue background color removed and the first coat of the black on.
- Saturday Morning:
second coat of paint on. Tinker w/ plumbing.....finalize layout
- Saturday afternoon:
Start drilling holes
- Saturday night:
Plumbing done and fill w/ water to test for leaks.
-Sunday:
pray for no leaks and start putting livestock and rock back in.
Get sump and skimmer placed and going!
Did I just put a schedule up....now everyone will have to be on to be sure it gets done!

I know how everyone loves pics...
You can also thank Robert.....aka(motorslave). He convinced me to start a build thread (I didn't need much convincing though).
Plus he has been a lot of help in decided on how to do the CLS...even though I haven't totally figured it out. But who doesn't run into things along the way while doing these projects that changes plans any ways.

Shouldn't you drill before painting? It would seem to me that you would save yourself a lot of mess that way...

Drilling should be easy...acrylic and little mess.
If I paint after drilling I have to worry about paint getting in the holes and into the tank.
W/O I have one large flat surface to roll it on. Else I will have to dodge ~8 holes.
