Whew, Reef150! I'm glad I'm on DSL Those are huge pix! We've got some good photo experts here that can give you some pointers about making your picture smaller. What kind of camera are you using?
Let's see what the others say about the LR and sand.

Patience!
Adding sand will cloud it up, but it will eventually clear. Rinsing it first would not have made a lot of differance it would still cloud up. Just let it run undisturbed until it clears. After the water begins to clear, you can take a length of ridgid airline attached to a length of flexible airline and by holding the flexible end in the outflow of a ph, blow the dust off the rock with the other end. Just do a little at a time to keep from stirring it all up again. As the sandbed matures it will develop a film of bacteria that will keep it from clouding up like it does now (unless it is really stirred up).

i'm sorry, i have dialup at home and it is taking forever to see the pic. it sounds like the normal Southdown Milkshake. it will settle out shortly. it may take a couple of weeks depending on the amount of flow you have in the system. the more flow the longer it will take for the bacteria to make the sand heavy enough to not float around.
as for the pics take a look here. this is the photo forum and hopefully it can help you. if you are on another OS let me know.

Hi Reef150,
For resizing with Windows xp I use the image resizer that can be downloaded from Microsoft. Plain, simple and easy to use. Right click the pic and resize.

It looks fine - like LR. The sandstorm is normal - and rinsing really doesn't help, so don't worry about it. Just try not to disturb it.
And your rock is still quite alive - don't worry about that. It will look like everyone else's rock once the tank gets established. Corraline will grow in it's own time. Until then, patience, my friend.

Just put the rock back in the water and let it cure away for eternity or four to six weeks. That looks really pretty.
Scrape off any dead stuff and change some water every week and you are going to be in great shape.
Mrs. Phish and I have monster computers for an internet game but I can imagine the dial up folks will give you a PM on the resizing thang.
Where did you get your rock?
