My Fish Is Going To Blow Up!

This is just a picture of the breed of my fish. Mine wouldn't pose for the pic.

I have a regular blue devil Damselfish, that has grown twice it's size overnight. His belly is enormous! It looks like he swallowed a Large black olive. What the heck happened? His behavior is normal.

He increased in size overnight?

Are you missing anyone? Shrimp or smaller fish?

No, thats the thing. This guy is tiny. He couldn't fit anything in his mouth bigger than a bee bee.

It's possible that it's a she not a he, and that your fish is egg-bound. I'm not sure what you can do for the fish though

I had the same problem with my blue devil, but it happened after I added a baby blue hippo tang to my tank. This damsel thought it was in heaven, all cozy with the tang. Of course the tang was happy too, the damsel started digging out a hole in the gravel, under a coral, making her nest and the tang grew up and left her. She got egg bound and died last week. I did tried to tell her but she would not listen. I did a necropsy on her, she had one huge batch of eggs..... I tried to catch her before she died but no such luck.... I hope your story turns out better than mine. I have never heard of a fish trying to mate with another type before, I think I have seen everything now!

I had 2 blue devils in my old 72 bow front tank and one got really large in the stomach and then they both died and have no idea why and it was just another mystery of the reef left unturned. Johnny
