mushroom expansion?

why are my shrooms shriveled?
my fuzzy shroom and my red/green ones that were with my macro in the sump are all shriveled. the red shroom i got three days ago is fully expanded tthough.
the red/green shrooms may be because of the algae touching them but the fuzzy has been in the same place.
ill get a pic in a little bit, i just uploaded a bunch of stuff which i will post in another thread right now but i am always lazy on the pics and didnt think to get any of the shrooms.
this happend before, they shriveled then eventually i threw them away.
any ideas?

Shrooms will shrivel up at night usually and then come back out during the day. Sometimes they will even shrivel up during the day, but I would not worry about them unless they start to spit up stringy white stuff, it's their zooxanthaelle....then you need to be concerned.

Most softies and shrooms will close up at times, and then come back out later. Quite common and nothing to worry about.

That white stringy stuff is thier mesenterial filaments, not zooxanthellae. But it is a sign of serious stress. This is brought on by chemical, proximity to incompatable species, or mechanicle stresses.

Ok...not zooxanthaelle, but definitely an indication of stress and possible loss.

I'm with tabwyo, and I sort of figure everyone has tested all parameters and everything is good.

I glanced at some of the pics on your other thread, but they are a little fuzzy so It's hard to say if they were stressed or not. Do you have any good clear shots of the stuff in question?

EDIT
Went back and looked at the pics again....The shrooms in the pics look fine, BUT the smaller tank for your "quarantine tank" shouldn't have substrate and rocks. It's defeating the purpose of quantining. I'm not really the best to be giving advice on quarantining since I'm notorious for just acclimating and letting them go...but most QT tanks are bare bottomed and only have PVC pieces or pieces of clay pots in them. Do some searching on proper QT techniques....Like I said, I'm a slacker about it but one day that will come to haunt me I know...

There is a number of possible problems. Are the close to any other corals? Are they in direct intense light? Are they in moderate to strong water flow? Do you test/dose iodine? This is the last and most uncommon, is your water toooooooo clean?
