hey guys can anyone get a pic for me or something that shows how these things are supposed to look in a sump?i turned it on in the sump and it suck up about 2 inches of water, tons of bubbles and went right to the collection cup..there was about 2 in of water in the cup..i dumped it out and tried again..and it did nothing pump just made a humming noise..im guessing its because of the lower water level now..just wanting to make sure,thanks-drew

try it again, if that doesn't work blow in the airline. You need to open the wedge pipe all the way and then adjust it after a week or so. The wedge pipe is the vertical pipe on the drain. There will usually be a couple of lines or arrows that point at one another when the pipe is completely open.

How deep is the water that the skimmer is in?

Make sure the wedge pipe is wide open and the stickers are on correctly. Not too long ago I remember reading a post about someone who had their stickers on backwards and it said open, but was closed.

are you saying that the collection cup is filling up? If so, make sure that the wedge pipe is all the way open like described earlier.

It may be because the running depth of the skimmer when the skimmer is off is deeper than when it is actually running. I'm just basing this off the statement you made in the first post about the skimmer sucking up about 2" of water.

the skimmer cup filled up the first time..this time the area where the skimmer is located was going down about 4 inches..but i think it is because i had the outlet of the skimmer draining the water out of the area lol..i may have just figured it out for myself..-drew

LOL.. yeah, you want the skimmer to empty back into the same area the skimmer is in.
