MP40 too much for 45 gallon?
I have purchased a MP40....Well I WAS going to buy the MP10. Im sure I can just throttle it back....But I have seen MP40's on 210 tanks before....think its going to be overkill in my 45? I guess if I just throttle it back it would be fine. Then I always have more flow at the flick of a switch. Any tips?

I had my MP40W on a 45.
It creates a TON of flow if you leave it in full power.
I would advise using the sponge pre-filter so that your animals don't get chopped up.

oooo..you will probably def have a sandstorm..one of the unique things about the mp40 is it creates and undertow on your sand bed...but i think if you keep it towards the top you will be alright..how tall is the tank?-drew

It won't hurt to try. The best thing about the Vortech's is that you can dial it back if it does end up being too much.
One question I didn't see asked was what kind of coral are you planning on having in the tank. I am assuming SPS?

I have mostly sps yes. I just dont feel that the flow is enough. I like the thought of them growing in a ocean like environment and getting growth patterns the way they should be....not skewed by one way flow. Thats really the reason for buying it. I paid 225 with shipping and everything. Cant beat it.....

Used is not so bad. I sent you a link from RC about them being sold new on Ebay with the serial numbers scraped off. Sellers do this to avoid the fair market pricing that Ecotech enforces among it's authorized resellers.
