Moving tank again.. New sand again?

So I just moved my 55G reef tank from up stairs to the basement last month and put new sand in it at that time and everything is doing really well now. Well I am breaking up with my GF and moving and the tank is going with me. Do I need to replace the sand again or will I be ok using this sand again?

So the sand is only like a week old. I'd reuse it, I just moved my 75 across town but the trick is leaving the sand in the tank and not disburbing it. It makes the tank alot heavier to move but you dont stir all the nastys up in the sand bed.

I don't want to attempt to carry this tank up from the basement with wet sand in it. If I am not ok scooping it out into buckets and putting it back in later then I will most likely not attempt to reuse and just buy another big bag of sand.

Your sand isnt that old... Normaly its pretty taboo to reuse sand. But If I we're you I'd take the sand out. Then when you set it back up place your critters in a QT and monitor your display for trates. Thats my .02 but I'm a pretty budget minded reefer.

I will use my 30G hosp tank as a glass bottom storage for the rock with coral and fishies but don't want to leave them in there too long because I have a good 55g worth of rock and a mid sized to large hippo tang that is crowded in my 55G the 30G is going to be stressed.

It will be fine to move and to disturb, there should not be any nasties in the sand after a month.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

Trust me I know a 55g is too small for the Hippo but I am in no position to upgrade to a 100g tank. This fish has been in here since I purchased it about 2 years ago and other than being testy with new inhabitants has been almost 100% ich free for the last 18 months and always has a healthy appetite. I cannot bring myself to get rid of the fish.
