More Sump questions..... (if y'all don't mind)
Ok, i found the suggested 1" fittings....
couldn't find any "bulkheads" so i found a 1" female adapter and figured i could put that through the overflow drain and sandwich it with a pair of rubber washers, put the 1" ID vinyl tubing onto that (with a metal clamp on that for extra tight fit)and then epoxy the whole thing together and make it waterproof.... at least i think the epoxy might make it waterproof....?..... thats one of my questions...... i got a couple of adhesives to play with.... JB Weld, Devcon 2 Ton epoxy, regular ole clear Silicone, and PVC weld......
dunno if any will do the trick, so before i do and glue......
oh, i also bought the 1" U tube... its actually the intake tube to an Aquaclear 300/500, but its got a one inch inside diameter....
now in the other thread, i think Doug said i might not want to use a support bracket for the U tube- that it might get in the way, thats if i understood right, so i'm asking if thats what you meant Doug? that no bracket is better than one that might get in the way?
wanted to check on that
i decided not to go and get the stuff for the mini durso and the stuff for the U-tube bubble remover bits cause my daughter was starting to use the aisles at Home Depot as a drag strip, and thats rather distracting...so i got the minimum necessities (and i hope its enough) to at least get putting things together so the adhesives can setup and cure for functional assembly tomorrow morning or afternoon.... i hope to add those items on at a later date....
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions, you guys always come through
oh, here's the link with the original discussion if anyones' memory needs freshening

ON the Amiracle overflow box I had and the ones I made the drain fitting was a 1" female adaptor on the inside with a threaded male end poking out of the bottom of the case. An O ring on both sides the the proper sized threaded connector with a barb fitting for the hose on the other end. I have epoxied them in place on my homemade ones but its cramped inside the catch cups I used to make them.

As I recall I suggested not using any bracket, as it will get in the way and shouldnt be needed

pardon my crude sketch, but this shows the parts and assembly sequence, HTH

now, i don't know if i did a bad thing, but i lost patience last night and just epoxied the whole flipping thing together. the female 1' fitting that i put in the drain box protrudes from the bottom of the box by around 2 inches... so i epoxied the whole thing together and made a good thick seal around the fitting and the box and crimped a hose clamp around the vinyl hose. Thought if that epoxy is as good as it claims, if i made a good enough seal it might be like the box and drain were made in one piece.
i used silicone to affix the baffle to the inside of the box, and i used lots of it
i'll be doing leak tests in the sink when manufacturer's suggested curing time has been reached
You know i've been on this project for more than a year?
that just ain't right!

thanks, i'll keep a close eye on it JIC yanno.... figured if epoxying it to the box was bad it would be because the box would be carrying the weight of the 1" tubing, but it would still have to do that with a proper fitting bulkhead anyway.... and the fact that i have a puddled out ring of epoxy thats about 3" in diameter, it might help broaden the point of the weight load and strengthen the box....
i dunno... the real proof will be seen when i get it all together and see how long it lasts.
