Monti recovery possible?
I had a small orange monti frag that I somehow lost in my tank for a few weeks. Well, I found it this weekend turning over a rock. Turns out I didn't see it when moving some stuff around and set the rock it's on upside down in the sand. The frag is probably 1.5" in diameter. It's nearly completely white with some small patches of color left on it. Now that it's rightside up again I'm waiting to see some PE. What do you think my chances are?

If you still see the corals original color, it definitely has a chance still. Just give it good flow and slowly acclimate it to more light and see what happens.

Oops, 'slowly acclimate it to more light'. It's been at the top of my tank under the 400watters for the last couple of days. I guess that's not much for acclimation.

even if it bleaches out the rest of the way from light shock, keep it still and stable for a few months and you never know, i think once the crust over with algae its a good sign to give up the fight, but i wouldnt cross it off untill your sure.

Andy made a good point as far as the algae thing.......there is always hope until the skeleton gets covered in coralline or other nuisance algae. At that point it can go in your coral graveyard.
Doesnt everybody have a coral graveyard?? Or just me?

I'm not to awfully worried about it since it was a freebie. I did like the color it was. If it kicks the bucket I can probably pick up another frag of it's size for $5. I'll just wait and see.

Coral graveyard... that must get expensive. I really haven't had any perish yet. I have a frogspawn holding on for dear life I cooked in my hot tank about 5 months ago. He could be headed there. Why where is your graveyard? Does each one get it's own tombstone? LOL

LOL. No, I haven't had to resort to that. I do have quite the fish graveyard going or should I say flushyard? My kids ask if they can pull the handle. I dunno why that is fun for them but I guess it is.
