i got a free red cap frag today

how do i know if its happy where i put it and how much flow it needs?

I thought I osted in this thread but obviously not.

Lighting: I would go low to moderate and bring it up to high over a months period.

Flow: doesn't need a lot of flow but need to have enough to keep detritus from settling on top of it which causes STN.

Nope nothing. Pretty easy coral to keep. They grow like crasy too.

yeah i see them in a lot of peoples tank and they grow really quick

i found a spot that it will be able to grow out and not shadow anything so hopefully mine grows quick like them

What kind of lighting do you have in your tank? I have 200W of T5's in my 54G and I have to keep my candy caps on the bottom otherwise they bleach. IMO, start them on the bottom, then move them up slowly. Medium water flow works well, my frags used to be open until a green clown goby hosted to them. They don't open anymore, but still grow and I keep fraggin'. Good luck, don't overdose them with light.

i have pcs. but how do i know when to move it up ? i know when they bleach to move down but how about moving up?

Just move them up a little once a week. If your PO4 is ZERO then as they color up you'll know to move them up. If your PO4 is not zero then you just have to do it on a time line. Nothing will tell you that you have PO4 better than your corals.
