Mixed reef?

I have a question. I have a 29 gallon BB nano that has softies, LPS, SPS and a clam. I was reading a post in TRT's BB section and it's got me wondering...This is a new tank at 4 months...for long term success is it okay to have such a mixed reef or because of toxic warfare should I set up different tanks? If I should have different tanks then who should go with who? Clam with SPS? LPS with SPS or Softies?

SO far everyone is very happy (running a 150 HQI soon to be updated to 250) Setting up different tanks would be no probelm because I have lots of spare equipment.

Thanks for any help.

If you have the means do do so, why not set up seperate tanks for the pleasure of it? One for softies, one for LPS and one for SPS? What toxic warfare are you referring to?

It would be best to have biotope specific tanks, but Im not sure how much that would translate into additional growth.

I've been doing it successfully for over 2 years, but now I'm having major issues. Not sure if I'd go this route again, although it does make the prettiest tank.

soft corals emit inhibitory chemicals that affect stony coral growth and PE

I'm sorry, I meant what issues are you having with your tank right now? Are some corals not doing too well cause of the mix?

Everything in my tank is doing really well but it's a young tank (4 months) and so everything is small and spaced apart. The only thing I've struggled with is getting enough flow for the SPS while not ripping apart the softies at the same time. I'm going to have to set up another tank I'd rather do it sooner rather than later before things spread too much.
