missing foot

Last night while working in my tank, the foot I guess it would be called was ripped of my max clam. He looks healthy still, and if I didn't know it, I would say nothing happened to him. Will the foot grow back? I didn't even see it happen, he could have seperated from it himself.. I found him in the sand.

I believe that its OK. I think its called a Bysal gland).

My clam has lots its foot a while ago and is doing fine.

The loss of the byssal gland will make them more prone to infection and crabs who may climb inside for a meal. keep a close eye on it.
