Midas Blenny VS Firefish
I am not starting this thread to get flamed.
I personally like both fish. I read a the thread the other day about the Midas. So i looked into it more. And this is what i found.
Whiskey, this is mainly for you since you stated in that thread if you wanted to know if it would get along with your firefish. The reading that i have done on the Midas Blenny is that it is basically a good peaceful reef tankmate, BUT, it has been known to go after and harass Firefish. This is no lie, i can attach the link where i read it.
Does anyone have experince keeping the Midas ?? How do they behave? Any tips on keeping them?
Thanks

My Midas is a very well behaved fishy but she is the smallest. The Scott Michaels book 500 + fish book does state it may harrass smaller gobies

Hmmmm. The Firefish is technically a Dartfish, but I wonder if the blenny knows that.
I've been told you need to make sure the Midas Blenny doesn't bite you because of the Poison, but don't have any solid references to back that up yet either.

IME, my large midas blenny is pompus, a bit of a bully to even a large damsle, and is food obsessed. They are not the most peacefull IMO.
But indeed a georgus fish, I would say pick 1 or another,
you dont want to risk putting the firefish in danger

Very cool looking fish no doubt, but I've never seen one around here,... that has me a bit worried, but I could start asking.
Thanks,
Whiskey

I have kept a midas blenny and a firefish together for a year now. My experience has been positive. The only time the blenny even notices the purple firefish is when the firefish goes near the blennies sleeping hole. Who wouldn't get upset if someone else was messing with your bed? I say go for it.

Well this may be true.
But he is thinking about adding one to a 15g (i think) with a firefish. They tend to be less agressive in a bigger tank.
