We had a midas blenny - great fish! Neat personality, very beautiful, and would definitely have another. Ours jumped, but it was the result of nighttime aggression from an otherwise docile true perc (henceforth known as The Percula From Hell. She killed a lot of other fish.) I don't think the species are known to jump - I had never heard of it before. Anyway, I'd definitely recommend the midas. He will find a favorite little perch somewhere and just watch what's going on. Ours was an aggressive feeder, too. Sigh. I miss him.
Oh, and jumping wasn't uncommon - TPFH managed to make a lawnmower blenny jump too.

I would second the thumbs up on the Midas. Mine is a very active swimmer but also has great personality perching in holes. It is also very easy to feed eating out of my fingers at times. All in all a great reef fish IMO.

The color is a little different but it looks like a Midas to me. Mine has more of a peach or orange body color.

I wish I didn't have a completely open top on my tank, I would love one of these guys.

Blennies are generally not big jumpers, like the gobies. If they just it is usually caused by them darting to avoid something that scared them. They like to stay close to their holes in order to hide. If you do not have any other fish that would be aggressive towards the Midas, then I would think that you would not have a problem with jumping. I have kept many blennies over the years with an open top tank and only lost one due to jumping, I have saved one on occasion after it had jumped because I was arranging LR in the tank.

I honestly wouldn't worry about one jumping unless there is a lot of aggression in the tank. They are great fish!

I am thinking about a midas blenny also. The tank has damsels, will they harass the midas to death? Also what do they eat?

Megan;
If your damsels have bothered anything else you've put in the tank, they'd bother the blenny, too. Although if they are too busy picking on each other, the blenny might fare ok. Damsels are just plain onery.
Midas blennies eat just about everything but particularly like small bits of meaty foods; they can sure make a dart from their holes at feeding time.
Recall; welcome to The Reef Tank!
