Question

Midas Blennie (ecsenius Midas)

I stopped by a new LFS Today Very nice store owner seemed very knowledgable and honest. I explained my quest for a small colorful fish that swims around. He recommended the Midas Blennie (which I have on hold pending more research).
I currently have a yellow watchman and a percula clown. This will be the last fish added to the tank and I don't want to make another mistake (like the wrasse my husband needed to fish out). Will a Midas Blennie be compatable with the fish I have?

have you taken a look at a firefish? They're friendly and nano safe. Although, they like to jump out. But, you've got a cube.. so that won't be a problem. They're also always out and don't hide.

I like the fire fish but for some reason my husband doesn't. He did like the midas blennie though if we weren't on our way to a "corn fest" we probably would have bought it outright.

I remember seeing this guy at my LFS this weekend. The only thing I remember is that he might eat small decorative shrimp. That barred him from my tank since I have a bunch of sexy shrimp running around.

Per 500+ Marine fishes:

Quote:
Max len: 3.9in
Min tank: 20g
Food: Varied diet including finely chopped crustacean flesh, mysid shrimp, ...frozen preps for herbavores.
Care: This slinky, colorful fish makes a great display species and is one of the best blennies for the reef aquarium. Unlike most of it's close relatives, this species feeds mostly on zooplankton, rather than algae. Spends most of it's time tucked in small holes or swimming in the water column, usually ignored by its tankmates. WIll sometimes pick on small planktavore. The author has observed this species biting and tearing the fins of a firefish and a goby. It is most likely to become a problem in smaller aquariums.
