Micron Socks

Ok i calmed down the bubble problem for a bit till i can come up with a plan i put a micron sock over the return in the tank and one over the pick up in the sump it cut out alot of bubbles i mean alot. SO i need your help I want to approach this as easy as can be. what do you guys suggest doing first here is what i tried so far.

glued return pipe to elbow in reef , replaced swivel return neck ,re taped all threads 10 times around threads, new clamps, new clear hose, finer sponge on return, there are no leaks i tried cutting the flow nothing i turned pumps off one by one the main mag drive 7 is the cause.
I think the bubbles are suppose to be there well thats all i know because thats all i have had since day one and everything i tried lol i have to laugh .HELP

I haven't been following your problem except for the above post, so forgive me if I'm redundant. So you say the return is the problem and you've taped and glued the connections, verified that the pump housing is tight (assuming it's external, if submerged forget about that) and you still have bubbles. I've used Mag 7's for a long time (and still have every one of them still working) and the only time I've ever had problems with microbubbles was when the pump was sitting in the sump and the water level got too low, the pump would suck air. Fixed by getting a 1/2" male threaded adaptor elbow, like this attached to the end of suction on pump, with the opening turned down, and no more bubbles.

yes i have the elbow turned down for some reason these bubbles love my tank they are so small that they are free floating they don't rush to the top they just hang so they are everywhere.

That's such a drag. Well, they've got to be coming from somewhere!

Is the suction on your return close to your skimmer discharge, or from the overflow?

i know it is such a drag makes me upset actually all the work and money.I love the hobby though so proud of the tank. The skimmer discharge is in the bio balls the wet/dry has a hole for this the wet/dry and skimmer are same make.Proclear there is a blue foam block betweenthe bio balls and the rest of the sump. But the bubbles are so fine the float right through this sponge. Its a mystery i swear the micron socks are helping because they are calming them down but not solving them .

i have read some of your other threads but dont remember any pictures??? Am I wrong? If not then if you could get some up this would help greatly. Get pictures of your whole setup. Without this there are just guesses. With pictures there would be more confident and probably "solving your problem" answer.

Not sure which reason your concern over the bubbles is for, but if it's health of the tank, I urge you to read this (myth #14)

http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-01/eb/index.php

if it's asthetics....then nevermind. hehehe

i just took the micron sock off the return in the tank and right back to it the bubbles are more fierce then ever over taking the tank. When the sock was on i noticed the bubbles were less but not gone because they had less flow of force fron the sock so there you have it there is no way in hell to get rid of my bubbles.Unless i start all over agin.

if they are air bubbles, they will float.

Turn ALL pumps/skimmer off for 15 minutes. The bubbles should float to the top and pop.

Then put your sock back on, and turn everything back on.

What do you mean by "Unless i start all over agin."?

start what all over again? the plumbing? the whole tank?
