MH LIGHTING: help me with a BUYING decision

I'm jumping in and buying MH Lights.....Ontop of my tank I have limited space and these lights are the ONLY 250W MH solution I can find that will fit:

The only 250W MH's I can find that will fit this space are these by AQUA MEDICS:

Dimensions: 11"long x 10.25"wide x 5"high

Product Specs: http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_...hts.asp?CartId=

THREE QUESTIONS:

1) What's your opinion on this light? Good, bad, indifferent?

2) What kind of bulb do I put in? 10K? 20K? i'm running 2x65w Actinics directly behind them.

3) I have 3/8inch GLASS inserted laying ontop of my tank as a splashguard...if I lay this light on that glass will it be okay? could it overheat the glass and shatter it? dont want any "kurplunk" then "fiz fiz fiz fiz.....BOOM!"

Also I would not lay this right on the glass.....maybe use a smallpiece of 1x2 to let air pass between the pendant and glass!

i would sell your lights and get a new fixture all together, like the current outer orbit set up (not nessesarily that one, but something like it) you want your halides to be more centered on the tank, and the actinics around it. what your doing should work fine. just my 2 cents.

I agree on selling your lights and getting on complete hood w. 2 MH's and some VHO's but up to you.....

Plus VHO is a little nicer light than PC

Also in regards to you what kind of MH bulh to get start w/ 10K and your actinics for the PC's. If you want bluer go 14K.
