mh ballasts retrofit kits

looking at putting a 250w mh retrofit on my hex tank, how high off the surface should it be as ill probably need to make a new canopy for it. also im currently running pc lighting 10k with actinic supps and i like the color, i dont really like how 10k alone looks. is the 14k or 15k the same color as 10k with supps?

I say 6 to 8 inches will be fine with plenty of venting of the canopy. Maybe put in a fan or 2

yea was definately planning on some fans, have one in there now just for my pc light. 6-8inches sounds good. any insight on my color question?

it may take a bit of experimenting, but starting with 14-15K's would be a good start with finding a colour you will like.
