max pressure for ro/di

I have 140 + lbs at the meter, what will this do to my unit, damage the seals ? shorten membrane life, blow up ?? can it cause it to be less effective and give me higher TDS ? I am considering a pressure reducer at the meter for overall longevity of my appliances and safety in case of a leak, Im just needing to get a plumber out here soon. also I had thought about having my water collection can on the opposite end of my house from the RO/DI so it can be in the fish closet. can you safely run tubing up through the attic and down to the tashcan without major risk of flood ? will it be able to push the water up that far ? anyone have a similar setup ?? Icemaker tubing maby ??

My Kent states that the optimal water pressure is 65 psig, you might want to contact the mfgr for specifics on yours. I would hesitate to run it at much higher pressure than that. It also says that qt 45 psig it will reduce output by half(approx) and that ideal water temp would be in the 70-77F range, again could water will reduce it.
As to running tubing up and over I dont know if it will push it that high and far

It can be rebuilt.

as for the pressure question. wowser 140+ psi! i did not think you could get anywhere near that high in a house. 65 psi is about 60 feet of head pressure! so unless you are trying to run the line up higher than 60 feet you should be fine. as for what happens if it leaks, that is all you.

we happen to be right next to a flood plane and are below the local resoivar (sp) , and are at the lowest point in the neighborhood, according to the meter guy. last summer I watered the lawn for 15 minutes a day for a month and got a $ 1100 water bill, they came and checked the meter etc, and said if I water for 15 minutes, its the equivalent of an hour somewhere else due to the pressure, the home inspector failed to mention this when we bought the house !! the pressure reducers are cheap, its just expensive to have them installed ! oh yea I can spray my garden hose about 120 feet with the brass spray guns... you have to wear you clothes in the shower to avoid skin tears..

get a pressure regulator!

it should not be that expensive to put one in. they shut the water off before the house. then cut the lines and put in the pressure regulator. i would not think it would be that much.

any plumbers in the house?

I got a quote for 300 installed today, problem with mine is that I have 2 meters, so its kinda a double job, anyway I hope to have it done by the end of the week, problem solved !! I kept wondering why I had to replace the filler upper on all the toilets after only 6 months, guess they all suffered a wash out.
