Matrix Carbon by Seachem

Can anyone tell me how to use this? I purchased it at the recommendation of Marine Depot along with a couple of filter bags and there are no directions on the jar as to how to use it.

Rinse it well, preferably in RO water then spoon the correct amount into the filter bag, and place in sump or filter, discard after 3-4 days

All carbon should be rinsed well in RO water before being placed in your tank. =) Carbon will pull a lot of oxygen out of the water if you put it in your tank dry. You can see it absorb oxygen when you rinse it! Also you want to remove any powdery, dusty bits from the bag so they don't end up floating in your tank. You should be able to tell when the carbon is tank ready. It should rinse clean of small black carbon dust and it should no longer be bubbling, pulling in oxygen.

And I'm not sure how much is recommended for your 55gallons. =/ Perhaps someone else can suggest an ammount. =)
