Marine Betta and a CleanUp Crew

I've got a well-established Marine Betta eating frozen mysis twice a week.

Problem is I've added a bunch of dry rock to my 75g reef and as a normal course of events the dry rock is getting a small amount of surface-algae.

I have a Lawnmower Blenny but oddly he only has certain favorite rocks while ignoring others.

So the only two fish in the tank is this betta and the lawnmower....nothing else, no inverts.

I was thinking about a cleanup crew of Scarlet Hermit Crabs...but afraid adding hermits would just be "snacktime" for my betta over time.

About the only other thing I can think of is putting in a YellowEyed Kole Tang that is well know for scraping algae with its mouth.

Do you think hermits would be a BAD choice? what abou the kole? anyone have any other ideas??????

I think the Kole would be a good choice. I have both a Kole and a Lawnmower in a 1.5 y.o. tank, as my husbandry improves my Lawnmower gets thinner

The Kole will accept nearly any food I add, and is working on all of the rocks to boot. The Lawnmower is much shier and may need to go to a new home if his condition declines, at the moment he is OK, but is to shy to compete aggressively for food with other fish.

Another option would be Turbo Snails, they have heavy shells which would likely protect them from your Betta.
