Male Banggai for Female?

I have a male cardinal that I wish to trade for a female. My evidence that it is male is that it has been terrorized to near death by the other Banggai in my 100 tank. They were sold to me by FFE as a M/F pair. The fish has been removed to my refugium where it is improving rapidly. I believe all risk of death has passed.

Anyone interested?

Scott

It probably is a male, Scott. We are pretty sure our female killed a 3rd banggai in our tank, but there was a male present..so maybe she had competition.

Big Dave-
It's really hit or miss with sexing. Some say the second dorsal fin is longer in one of the sexes..see i already forgot . The males are said to have a bulldog look to them. There is only one sure way to tell. When one of them stops eating and gets chubby cheeks..that's the male!

HTH-

sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.As today I purchased
a pair of banggai cardinal fish(and out of different tanks). We watched them eat this evening and I sat there wondering whats
the difference between sexes?Low and behold here is a thread.
There is a difference between the rear dorsal fins,so if I continue
to be lucky and they do breed the male will be the one with the mouth full of eggs.
