http://www.wetwebmedia.com/malachitegreen.htm

Good info...basically though it says good for ponds & FW...but not so good for SW.

Read it and see what you think!

I wouldn't use malachite green in saltwater tanks......dangerous - - you can try feeding your tangs with garlic-soaked nori and they will usually fend off the ick attack.

If you have a quarantine tank you can actually use it to treat ich.
It is the main ingredient in ICH_GAURD which can be used with tangs.
I treated A yellow tang and foxface clown fish and goby with it before.
However you must follow directions exactlly.
Do NOT DO NOT DO NOT use it in a display tank.
It will kill all invertabrae as well as completely Kill all benificial life in you live rock.
I am not sure if you could ever use the rock again for anything.
It will kill all your pods. you will have a big ammonia and nitrite spike then everything will die in your tank
DO NOT DO IT unless its in a hospital tank.
I have head mixed results with it.
It is very effective against velvet SO sO with ich.
Hyposalinity is better for ich but this to can be extremly stressful to your inverts and deadly to sting rays.
I find that cooper is the quickiest remedy for ich But it to is very very deadly to your display tank and live rock.(DONT EVER PUT IN DISPLAY) Also stressful for fish and there is overdose possibility. I have a fish net that I used in my quarantine tank which had copper treatment that I still wont use in my display
