I just used that and RO water. Works like a charm. Just watch your Ca levels if you need a bunch.

remembr that everything that goes into the tank must be exported, and this includes the liquid you'd adding making your kalk paste. Look for every opportunity (especially tap water for top off) to prevent imports of these substances, as evaporation only removes WATER and leaves everything else that was dissolved in it.

hmmm...so...I shouldn't use tap water treated with prime?

What about filtered water through a Brita pitcher?

What is my best option here?

I do the same and it does help ! When you inject it in the there mouths and they close on it they stick to it and they will melt away in front of your eyes.
Prime is a killer product and is the best you can use for treating tap water so you should be good with what you are doing.

Go to Wallyworld (I cannot believe I suggested that) nd buy one of the large bore turkey baster needles attached to a 60ml syringe, they will be wherever they sell the turkey friers (usually in Sporting goods). the needle looks to be about 8G or so, big enough to to marrow aspirations (looks about a lumen diameter of a 16d finishing nail). I may try a batch of boiled kalkpaste to see how that does, I have a little concentration of about 6 large specimens in the prop tank.

Just curious, what is the rational behind WHY Aptasia spp seem to prefer the boiled paste over the regular paste prep (cold water and pickling lime)???

BTW, I saw Ball's pickling lime in Walmart a week ago.

My rationale is that they just do. I dont remember where I heard it but they definitely react differently to it if its been boiled and ive been making it that way for a while now.

YOU'RE the one who knows how this chemistry crap actually works, I was hoping you knew why.
