maintaining temp

Good morning! I had a hope to be a simple question for maintaining stable tank temp. I have been cycling my reef tank for a week, and notice especially with lights on, tank runs hot. Hard to keep at 78 or below without floating frozen bottle of water. My tank is small, 29 gallon and its been HOT here in Clevo the past week, upper 90's! I assume tank size is the culprit. Any suggestions? Chillers are kind of out of the question, crazy expensive and I am a student! I am wondering if winter will prove to be a problem, though not as concerned, I assume its easier to "heat up" than cool down. Thanks for any tips you may have!

Oh, BTW, I have already removed my canopy top, and as I said floated frozen bottles of water. Could it me my lights? One fan is out, waiting for replacement. I do notice the side fan is out on is noticeably warmer.

Im guessing you guys dont have AC? Its been in the 90's here all summer and my tank stays at 78-79 with just the use of fans. You want to add fans behind the light fixture blowing across the water. This will help the heat dissapate through evaporation. But your going to have to add more top off water, because it will evaporate faster. Fans can cool a tank by 5 degrees. Thats all I use....with 300 watts metal halide over my 45. I have to run a heater the fans work so well.
