Maintaining Levels.
Ok I have a question lol. I tested all my levels tonite. Amnonia-0, Ite-0 Ate-5, Phos 0.03, Mag was a little low 1140( I am dosing it now to bring it back up. Dkh-936 Alk 3.43 and Calcium was 420. My question is when I do water changes does that reduse what I am dosing meaning my mag is a little low I think? When I do a water change will it raise it or do I continue to dose.

It depends on the salt you use. If the salt's mag level is low then adding it to your tank will also lower the alk. I suggest testing your fresh saltwater before you do a WC and dose to adjust the levels to where you need them to be before you do the WC

yea I didnt think of that. I use Reef Crystals.. I am gonna do that test the fresh Mix. It seems like I am fighting to maintain the levels I didnt know if there was a certain way to keep them a lil more stable. I mean they seem decent right now.

You are letting your water mix for at least 12 (preferably 24) hours prior to a waterchange right

Once you have the mag where you want it, it shouldn't be an issue with the exception of getting the new water to where it needs to be. Calcium depletion will depend on how heavily stocked your tank is with coral that require it. Alk will lower with time naturally and will possibly need to be dosed for.

What? Rubbish. Mag depletes and needs replacing just like Ca and Alk (outside of water changes) Or am I misreading what you're writing here???

You need to let it circulate for at least 12 hours. Freshly mixed saltwater is harsh to the gills of fish and hard on inverts.

Mag depleats but is easily replenished with water changes unless huge amounts of stonies are present.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.
