Question

Mag 1200 for 135?

As many of you know we are going to be upgrading to a 135 and in the process I need to upgrade my return pump. I think that we have settled on in sump pump and there are only a few brands that pump about 1200GPH that are in sump. Any comments, will that be emough flow?
Thanks
Jonathan

Uh-oh..i promised Jon he'd get more replies here than over at another msg board . We will probably continue to use our current Mag 5 or 7 to one of the returns and the 1200 Mag for the other return on the new tank. What is the average turnover rate you guys are using??

Thx-
Brooke

Not a simple answer. It depends on what you are planning on doing.

On my 180 I run a Little Giant 4-MD that puts out 1000 gph after accounting for head loss. I suppliment that with 3 MJ-1200's (on a wavemaker) which total roughly another 1000 gph for a total of 2000 gph.

You are right greg..

Well it's a reef ready tank with two overflows and two returns. I'd like to keep powerheads to a minimum. We will be keeping mostly softies, LPS and clams. We'll have a few SPS as well. We're toying with different options for the returns. We're open to ideas.
