LR and Sumps

Does anyone fill their sumps full of live rock, I have been thinking about adding Live Rock to my sump to add as an extra filter system. Currently I have an empty sump that I clean out during water changes.

I think it's easier to remove Detrius from the system if the sump is empty

I agree with Kelli. I leave the sump empty and use it as a settling area for detritus removal that will have minimal impact on the tank. With LR in there you may create more of a problem than aything else as cleaning it out would be a major issue and the collection of major detritus would be the real outcome.

im glad you asked that Q because ive done that for years, thinking that pieces that where too sm. for the main tank could go in there for added
filtration.

I always figured the more LR and water the system has the better. I've always had LR in my sumps and just blow it off when doing a water change then completely drain the sump that keeps the detritus from collecting in there.
