lowering kh?


Hey i have a 36bow fornt reef tank and my kh is a little high it is at 16. Do i need to lower it and how do i lower it and what does kh do.

What's in your tank? (livestock)and WC's would be the way to lower it.

i have live rock some corals and invertebrets and some clowns and gobys and a royal gramma and what is WCs?

i have done many water changes and the kh has still not lowered, my corals dont seem to be doing bad they seem to be growing. do you think i should just do regular water changes and see if it fixes its self?

I would suspect testing error or bad test kit.

Unless you are dosing something for alkalinity, there is no reason for it to be elevated.

Regular WC's should handle it.

Are you or did you add anything to maintain ph?

yes i have added stuff to maintain ph and i have stared to stop adding it because it raises my alakinty but how to i keep my ph up with out adding stuff to my tank

If your alk is in check it should maintain ph.

Forget about dosing for PH. Maintain your calcium, alkalinity and magnesium. PH will take care of itself if you keep the others in check.

also your ALK and Ca will lower over time. Just sit tight ant it will fall slowly.
