low wattage pc lights

Is it possible to use the small pc bulbs that you get at Home Depot and such other places that are the low wattage, screw-in types? I'm speaking of the one's from phillips and such. Not These in particular but this style is what I'm talking about.

I want to keep only a sun coral, leathers, xenia ( maybe ) and there's a slight possibility i'll want to keep an open brain coral too.

I saw some that were 10K's yesterday and thought of this.

If it's possible, would I need to purchase based off of output wattage or the actuall wattage used?

Possible? Yes. But you would need allot of them, and it would end up being very expensive,.. plus there is no good reflectors for them so the light you actually get in your tank would be very low VS equal wattage of a normal light.

In the end you would save money, and power, plus hassle just getting a normal PC retrofit kit. You would also save a fortuine on bulb replacement.

Check out the for sale section,.. people often sell used PC lights,.. you can get them much cheper than new.

Thanks for the advice I'll check out the for-sale section now

I actually have two Coralife fixtures I could use but one is too wide and one is too short for my ten gallon nano I'm building That's when I thought about those above-said bulbs

oh well, live and learn
