Lost patients, lost "pride," Lost FLATWORMS???

Ok,

I have to tell on myself here. I have been doing very well on cyclic my 55. I have seen the Rise and fall of Ammonia, NitItes, and Nitrates with some great pride and satisfaction. I am setting up a reef tank that "was planned' to only house Dori and Marlin (Nemo is up-stairs in our nano cube). Well, after much begging from the kids, I picked up a few Daimsels.

I felt awful for doing it because the tank is not 100% cycled IMHO. BUT, dad gave in...

Funny story here though...I was monitoring a pretty strong development of Flatworms in the tank. I have THOUSANDS of Pods...and quite a few MINI snails (very mini) that are ALL OVER the glass. The flat worms were starting to become quite abundant...

Well...as soon as I drop the Daimsels in, they went to town eating (hungry little buggers) the pods, spitting out the snails, and YES...muchin' then heck out of the old flat worms.

LFS said "pretty much nothing" you can do about the flat worms...

Now when I take these little guys back to the LFS, I am going to "sell them" some Flatworm removers!

Anyone seen this to be true?

Frank

I have read that damsels are said to eat flatworms - I have chromis in my tank and I can assure you they do NOT eat flatworms.

Good job that yours are gone - if your tank is cycling, where did the flatworms come from?

Only place I can imagine is the LR.

I have 3 sets...

1st set was totally dry Base rock (25lbs)
2nd set was cured Fiji - 20 lbs
3rd set was TOTALLY UNCURED Fiji (17lbs) and boy did it stink! GRIN

I have pods out the wazooo, and I am thinking they probably came from the live rock, along with the mini snails and flat worms.

Only other thing I put in the tank was live sand.

Last possible place was the 10 gallons of H20 I got for a water change.

Are they the mini, tini-tiny ones you find crawling on the glass?

I wonder if they will continue to grow?
