looking for....

Hey guys,

A friend of mine who lives out the country is looking for Acrylic to build a 450 Gallon aquarium tank. This is the information of the tank he wants :

Tank Height = 30"
Tank Width = 24"
Tank Length = 144 "
Acrylic Thickness = 1"

Where we can find acrylic in that size ????

Thanks

For what it's worth, it might be better to have it manufactured by an aquarium manufacturer. A tank that size that bursts is a heck of a mess.

Speaking as someone who has a 1000g tank made by a manufacturer, and having had it leak, (although we were able to repair it), I can't imagine a 'homemade' tank of such a size.

Customer of mine had a 'garage-built' 55-g let go on Christmas eve -- that was a mess unto itself.

JMHO but the money 'saved' in a DIY that large, might be better 'invested' in a guarantee from a reputable manufacturer.

JMHE.

I agree with Jenn, leave it to the manufacturers; unless you have a LOT of experience with acrylic construction.

i also agree with Vince and Jenn on this one as it is a large tank and I don't think any body want to clean up that big a mess , If You or Your friends are going to build start alittle smaller. Let the Someone else do it.

If he's determined to do it himself, here's a possible source:

Thanks for your concerns guys... The big problem here is the shipping, my friend lives in South America and send the whole tank is a big, BIG, problem, but send the acrylic sheets is a lot easier...

I checked usplastics.com and mcmaster.com, but the bigger size is 96" and he needs 144".... Any other place ?????
