Longnose vs. Flame Hawkfish

Which is your favorite Hawkfish. I would like to get a pair of either longnose or flame for my 90 gal. I like them both and need help deciding which to go with. Opinions please.

Just my personal preference but I like the longnose. Do you happen to have any shrimp in your tank?

I like them both too -- the flame hawk will perch on your rock and swoop down to "kill" brine shrimp, mysis or whatever you are feeding. They are brilliantly colored and easy to see in the tank. The longnose are not as active in my opinion but they are fun to watch as well - -

Hard decision! I would go watch both a flame and a longnose at an LFS and see which one appeals to you the most.

Good luck!

I vote FlameHawk!

Mine is such a character and is extremely fun to watch. He hangs out with my little red spotted Hawk and they do not bother my Cleaner at all.

I have had a flame hawk for over 3 years and I really like the color, but it is very agressive. (its small, too, under 3") It terrorizes the other fish in my tank and nips their fins. It constanly attacks my foxface (which is twice its' size) and it harrasses my gold stripe clowns, which are supposed to be more agressive. If I could catch it w/o destrying my tank I'd send it to you for free.

Good point. Flame hawks are predators, even though they are small.

No, they are white in color with bright red thin strips horizontally and vertically. Here's a decent picture of one:
