Question

Lonely fish? and Red slime!

Ok so about two weeks ago I purchased a firefish goby. the first week he swam around the tank happy as can be. but about a week ago he stopped coming out of his hole. he pops his head out when i put food in, waits for a piece to float by, grabs it, and then retreats back into his tank. There are no outside markings on him that I can see and the perameters are near perfect with the exception that my salinity got to 1.028 (oops, i'm working on lowering it) Is it posible he is just lonely?I also purchased a rock with zoanthids that also had, though i didn't notice it at the time, some red slime algae, I figured it would go away on its own since it wasn't started on my tank. It hasn't. now there is this thing on the rock that looks like mold! any suggestions? i would really like to continue stocking my tank this weekend, but i don't want to endanger anything.

What size of tank, and what are the actual numbers of your parameters? We will need a little more info to be able to help you out.

Did you dip the zoa's prior to placing in the tank? Ouch on the SG would be an assure for sure. When you can more info as previously stated. These guys are great they will help you figure it out. Good luck!

nope no dip, umm, the nitrates 0, nitrites 0, ph 8.2, alkalinity was in the "ideal range" of course I picked up the zoanthids tonight, and the rock just felt apart. I had turned it over because i thought one side was dead, apperently they weren't. I am heart broken over the loss. I am trying to salvage the few green spots left, hoping they will grow into new colonies, otherwise i wasted 30 bucks and just killed an animal
