Live Rock Reusable!

HI there!

I recently tore down my reef aquarium and going with a "high energy" set-up with alot of water flow.

My old system had alot of phosphate and the LR contained alot of detritus and I am sure phosphates as well. I kept about 8 nice pieces and over half are fairly new acquistions(Kaelini LR). They have been in a tub with PH's and heater and very little to no light for about a month now.

I hope to use these pcs along with some fresh show pieces to see the older LR when I do my aquascaping in my new tank. It will probably be another month or so before the new system goes up. Will this LR be usable and plan to turkey blast it one more time before going into the new tank. My new tank will be BB by the way. J~

according to Spanky. it can be revitalized. you are doing it the right way now. it will be clean and ready to go again when it stops producing detritus in the bottom of the container. this could take several months.

As I recall if you lower the PH the phosphates that have been bound to the rock will be released. Might be a good idea to lower ph in your rock tub before transfering rock to show tank.

Anyone else know of lowering the PH or should I just continue with current set-up.
