Tank size as big as you can go.....Tank mates anything bigger than his mouth, feeding anything smaller than his mouth. They are a cool looking fish i had one he died from stress from the hurricanes.

What Tim said
I've often wondered what you do in case of hurricanes!!! I live in tornado alley and don't know how long the fish would last if I had no power for a long time.....

Good mates that get along and have similar feeding habits are...
Eels
Puffers
groupers
anglers
DO NOT do more than one lion. they can and will eat each other. Lions seem to have a special relationship with Morays so you might look at a snowflake.

I also hear you want to get the lionfish to eat frozen food if possible. They meaty, live diets are great, but to keep a lionfish health and alive for more than a year you should try and get it to eat frozen food. I am also planning on getting a lion in about mid summer.

It isnt that easy to get them to eat frozen.
A- Ask the LFS if he eats frozen and ask them to prove it. If he eats frozen buy it!
B- Buy a lion that is really young and try to train him. It isnt easy but stick with it and you might get him on frozen
Lions will starve themselves to death if you are not feeding what they want to eat like live ghost srhimp.

if you can not afford a generator than get yourself a power inverter for the car. all you need to keep a tank alive is a water pump and a heater. just get an inverter that can do this almost all will. we survived the big ice storm in 2000 with one of these.

Feeding freshwater fish is not appropriate for lions or any other saltwater fish, for that matter. They do not provide the nutrition that saltwater fish need. I feed my lion frozen krill and he absolutely loves it.
There is a lot of incorrect info in this thread. I suggest you read these Reefkeeping articles thoroughly before purchasing a lion. http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-11/
