Lionfish

Hey all,

I've been wanting to buy a lionfish for a while now and had a few questions before I go for it. Im planning on getting a voilitan lionfish from my lfs. Hes been there for about 4 months and the owner has taught it to eat a manner of dried and frozen foods. My tank is about 100 gallons, with one other tankmate, a white cheeked tang. My questions are, will the lionfish affect any future tankmates I may want to get like shrimps and small fish etc.? And I have metal halides (powerful lighting) will the liofish be happy with this arrangement? (Im planning on turning it into a reeftank with mostly softies and maybe lps).

Your lighting should be ok as long as you give him plenty of places to hide from it. i used to keep one under MH as well and i just recently learned thatstrong lighting isnt really good for their eyes and can blind them.

Shrimp and fish that he can fit in his mouth (even part way into his mouth) arent an option. They will get eaten eventually if not sooner.

Thats awesome that he is already eating frozen foods, much simpler and better that way
