Lime green slug/snail??? Help ID please
Saw this in my refugium tonight just before going to bed. It looks like a lime green slug, I couldn't tell for sure if it had a shell or not, if it does it is the same color as the slug. hope it's harmless as I watched it crawl into the overflow pipe and get washed into the main tank. I'll post a few pics.

It looks really neat, I've never seen a slug or snail of this color before, really vibrant green.

I'd probably e-mail Bill Rudman with those pics, over at
www.seaslugforum.net
Then share the verdict with us here
Looks Aplysiid, but then, I've never seen something like that before.

Thankls for the link Horge, I'll try and email the pics this afternoon at break. I'll post the answer when/if I get it. I've never even seen a pic of a slug(??) like this before.
Chris I don't believe so, I watch the main tank after in went into the overflow and never saw it come out, the lights were off in the main tank.
I keep the refugium on 24/7 for now, but I'm planning on putting a timer on it to cycle it off for a few hours during the day. possibly 8 on, 4 off, 8 on and 4 off...

Well I emailed the Sea Slug Forum that Horge posted the link for so we'll see what/when/if they Id it. I'll post the reply, although I think I might have narrowed it down to the order "SACOGLOSSA" although I was not able to narrow it down any further.

Actually, I would bet that that would be a snail with an internalized or vestigial shell. The football shaped hump in the middle of the body is highly suggestive of that.

From what I read last night some of the SACOGLOSSA slugs do have a small thin semi transparent shell. Only it's not hard enough to protect them.
Evolution, what you don't use/need will eventually disapear.
