lighting, whats the best and whats not

what are the best lights for a reef tank that I can have so that I can have a little bit of everything in it coral wise. how are odyssea lights?
I have a 55gal and 46 gal bow I have found some(odyssea) that have 692w for a 48" tank and 380w for a 36" tank, now I dont know much about lighting other that I need them so that some corals dont die,I dont want that. If there are any sites out there with some insight on light, dont be shy in sharing them. I know that corallife are good but the price is a bit steep for me. I would like a happy medium to the high side price not the cheap ones that dont give me enough light.oh, and I dont know how to do it myself in making them either.
any help would be great, cheers and thank you

I may be wrong but I don't think the odyssea lights are very good
Did you check here http://www.reeftanklighting.com/ They are a sponser and I've only heard good things about them.

odyseas do have a bad reputation, but ive also heard that a few people make it through a long life with them, but imo id rather shell out a few more bucks for peace of mind and good customer response.

2 175 SE or 150 DE MH's would be ideal. Keep just about anything in your tank with 'em!
