Lighting Questions on amount???

I am wondering what is a good Par level for the corals of different species. I know there are alot of variables for this but what is a guide for this? I have just changed HQI bulbs, and just want to set the hight and placement of my corals in the right areas based on the par levels, while I have this meter here.

Thanks
Mike

I cant say I've ever seen a PAR requirement broken out for different species, especially as every application has different needs. Water clarity, nutrient levels, photoperiod, etc. As you mention, too many variables to really do those kinds of tests. You're better off just monitoring how the corals look and adjust as necessary (can move stuff higher or lower, increase/decrease photoperiod, whatever's available).

Yeah, that what I kinda thought. I just wondered if anyone ever took measurements and noticed that a Par reading of 250 was better than 450 for xx or xx. I know there are many factors on this, just looking for some talk on the topic.
