Lighting question

I had a 110 gallon tank that I was running 10K XM bulbs on, I custom built the hood and had the lights about 8 inches of the water. Now I have a 125 RR AGA tank that the same lights are 3-4 inches off the water. This seems to intense for me. I know I am going to have to buy a chiller but Do you guys think I should change the bulbs? I like the Xm but I want what is best for my tank. Please any advice would be great. Buying or building a new hood is not a realistic option at this point.

Is the lighting heating up the tank too much that you would need a chiller?

Not yet, but I have the feeling that it will. I am leaving the chiller option open for now, I am more concerend with the intensity of the lights with the shorter distance to the water.

I really don't think it will be to intense, But make sure you have a shield between the bulbs and water surface, If You water hits the bulbs they will break

I run this setup in all the tanks, just make sure that there is little opportunity for splash as Vinnie already suggested. using a fan on the sump will keep the tank water at or below 82 degrees F.
