lighting q

I am thinking of upgrading my lighting. I currently use an Odyssea MH unit and want something more powerful.
Do ballast's that are in casings all have the same kind of standard output plug?
I'm thinking of using 2 pendants hooked up to a dual ballast, this should just be plug and play correct?

Absolutly NO. That would just make it to easy! Every manufacturer has it's own plug configuration. The only way it will be plug and play is if you get pendants from the same manufacturer

Would it be easier to get a ballast and the mogul set from one company, and to use a reflector?
