Light Timers

How do you control the lights on your tanks? I would like to control 5 different lights on my tank independantly. Do you all just buy 5 of those Home Depot specials or is there something more complex and uses less power outlets.

Thanks,

G~

On my 125 Im currently using an Aquacontroller II with X-10 modules. Kind of expensive initially, but since I not only needed control of my lights, but also for my calcium reactor, chiller, heater, etc and also liked it for its logging features. More complex, yes. Less power outlet usage, no.

Make that lowes home improvement X10 controllers. There is some cool computer software to control them or just a simple <$30 clock.

All 4 of my tanks have the $5 HD dial-type timers. however, I was there today (getting 65w LOA) and the 7day digital timers are only $30 now.

I started my tank with the regular home depot timers, but I got so fed up with them, they were not precise enough. I ended up buying 4 of the digital timers (20 bucks each at my local home depot) and they are great! Battery back up if power goes out, pretty much set it and forget it type of deal...
